How to set up your DAW for Multichannel?

Information on how to set up your DAW in order to support multichannel calibration using the SoundID Reference DAW plugin.

DAW in Multichannel setup

After you have completed the multichannel measurement the multichannel calibration can be used within the plugin, which means the DAW must be configured to support a multichannel speaker setup. How to do so is different in each DAW. Here, we will address the process in Reaper, Pro Tools, and Logic Pro. If your DAW is not mentioned, we recommend consulting their resources. 

How to set up in Reaper DAW [macOS]

1. Click on "Route" to open Outputs for Master Track
2. Select the desired number of outputs in "Track Channel"
3. Select "Multichannel source" at the left bottom (by default displaying 1/2)
4. Select desired amount of channels
5. Click away the pop-up screen
6. Insert new track
7. Add our plugin to Master Track

How to set up in Reaper DAW [Windows]

1. From options go to "Preferences"
2. Adjust "Output range" to the desired number of outputs
3. Click on "Route" to open "Outputs for Master Track"
4. Select the desired number of outputs in "Track Channel"
5. Select "Multichannel source" at the left bottom (by default displaying 1/2)
6. Select desired amount of channels
7. Click away the pop-up screen
8. Insert new track
9. Add our plugin to Master Track

How to set up in Pro Tools [macOS]

1. From Setup go to "I/O"
2. in "Default Format" select the desired number of outputs
3. in "Path Order" select the desired hierarchy/order
4. Click on "OK" to confirm
5. Add a track
6. In the dropdown menu after "New", select the desired number of outputs
7. Change "Audio Track" to "Master Fader"
8. Click on "Create"
9. Add our plugin to Master Track

How to set up in Logic Pro [macOS]

1. Create a new file
2. In "Choose a track type" pop up choose "Surround" in Audio Output
3. Click on "Create"
4. From "File" go to "Project Settings" and select "Audio"
5. In the "Surround Format" field choose the desired number of outputs
6. Go to "Preferences" and select "Audio"
7. Select the "I/O Assignments" tab
8. Within the "Surround" section for "Show as" select the desired
   number of outputs
9. Add our plugin to Master Track
