Exporting a calibration profile for DAD AX32 with SPQ

DAD AX32 with SPQjpg.jpg

Export your SoundID Reference calibration profile for your DAD AX32 with SPQ audio interface for the lowest possible latency and highest convenience without using the plugin or standalone app.

Note: Profile export functionality requires a permanent license of SoundID Reference (not available with trial licenses).

Measurement process & DADman profile creation

The calibration process starts with the SoundID Reference Measure application. Before measuring your speakers, the process will guide you through the initial setup stage. The hardware setup stage consists of the following steps:

  1. Open the DADman control software and launch the Measure app
  2. During the Hardware setup stage in Measure:
    1. Click on the I have an Avid MTRX or DAD family interface with SPQ processing option.
    2. Click 'Browse' to load your current DADman profile - search for your .dmprof file.
    3. Confirm your active DADman Output group container and Output group to measure.
    4. Click on Next - the Measure app will now create a copy of your DADman profile (a new Profile name - Sonarworks.dmprof file will be created, which will be used during the measurement process).
    5. Return to the DADman control software, go to File > Open profile, and select the new DADman profile (the Sonarworks.dmprof file created during the previous step).
    6. Return to the Measure app, click on Yes, my profile is loaded to verify, and Yes, my output is set to confirm the active DADman output group.
  3. Proceed through the Hardware setup and Listening spot stages in Measure (no specific DADman steps required).
  4. Proceed with the measurement process - Listening Spot, Volume matching, and Room response.
  5. Review the Results and save the calibration profile to your computer > Open Reference app.

DADman profile

The SoundID Reference will create an export DADman profile which later will be applied to the DADman control software.

  1. Add output device - Select your audio interface to create an output device.
  2. Load the calibration profile - The measured calibration profile has been created by the Measure app.
  3. On the right from the Preset, click on the three-dot button and select the Export option.
  4. Select the DAD family with SPQ DSP as your device
  5. File type - DADman profile file
  6. Close DADman - DADman > Quit DADman
  7. Load your DADman Sonarworks profile that has been used during the measurement process
  8. Confirm the output group container > Export
  9. Relaunch DADman for the DADman profile export to be applied

The export file will be applied to your existing output group in the DADman app. The export will be added as a new output group container instead with the EQ applied to all the assigned channels.

Note: If you don't hear any output when the output container group with calibration is selected, simply power cycle your AVID MTRX audio interface and relaunch the DADman app.

Changes can be made to each item above in the SoundID Reference app before the profile export. This will include the changes in the export profile that will be applied to DADman.

What's included in the profile export?

The exported calibration profile will include the following information and DSP settings adjustments by default:

  • Calibration
  • Target Mode
  • Dry/Wet
  • Listening Spot
  • Limit Controls
  • Preset Name

The exported calibration profile will not include the following information (your target device may use its own processing solutions for these DSP features):

  • Output Gain: the gain control will take place on the integration device
  • Filter Type: processing will take place on the integration device, using its own filter solution
  • Safe Headroom: the values are exported in the profile, but might be applied differently on different integration devices

Note: Make sure that Calibration is Enabled before exporting the profile so that Calibration and all DSP settings are successfully included in the export.
