Can't Switch Presets - Error Code 3 [Resolved]

My apologies in advanced if this post is misplaced.  I wouldn't consider this a general discussion or a feature request, but I was unable to find a "troubleshooting" category, in which I could create my own post.  I also could not find any article or post about this issue that I had, so I'm posting the resolution here, in case anyone else gets this problem.

I incidentally created this problem by changing my interface's (Clarett 8Pre USB) sample rate to 96k, from within the interface's software.

This caused SoundID Reference to give me an error saying "Can't Switch Presets - Error Code 3."  Reference would not communicate with my interface.  No audio would pass through, even when using the "test tones", and I could not add any calibration profiles to my interface in Reference, rendering Reference useless.

I resolved this issue by quitting Reference, switching the interface's sample rate to 48k and back to 96k, then opening Reference.  Voila.

The apparent lesson is that the best way to change your interface's sample rate, should you be running it through Reference, is to change the sample rate from within Reference itself, as opposed to changing it within the interface's software.

Hope this helps, have a good one!
