Misleading error message "routing issue detected"

You might add a hint to your "Reference 4 Measure app troubleshooting guide", because the solution to this error message is so simple ;-)

For the very first time, I did the measurement for my speakers today  as described with onscreen instructions but I stuck in step 2 "room evaluation" with the error message "Routing issue detected". 

I checked x-times the settings of Windows and my external audio interface (that actually does not even provide a direct monitoring feature), read each additional hint in the "Reference 4 Measure app troubleshooting guide" but didn't get the error message passed. 

Then more by luck, while I did the measurement again, I hold the microphone to the other speaker and it worked!!

So, the problem was my own fault: "While I tried two different audio interfaces I accidently mixed the left and right XLR output connection to the speakers. 

Tipp: So, be sure that you have connected left speaker to the left output connection of your audio interface and right speaker to your right output

Thanks for your post! I'm glad to know you were able to resolve the issue :)

The error in the app itself suggests checking that the Left and Right speakers are connected to the correct output channels, but we'll review the Measure app troubleshooting guide and make sure that we have this information available in it as well. Thank you for your feedback!

Hi Zane (or anyone who can help)

I'm in this situation, where the frequency sweeps in the close-up test for the left speaker is coming out of the right speaker! But R on interface is going to R speaker and L is going to L. It suggests my routing is wrong, but it's not. I even tried swapping the speakers over, but it still was only coming out of the right speaker. Even when I put the mic to the right speaker which did have the frequency sweeps, it still came up with the same error and didn't work.

Please let me know what to do, I really need to get this done before I leave in the morning... if possible.

Hi Zane,

I have the same issue, as James, with my apollo twin x. But I didn't have this issue with my Scarlett 2i2.  I have this problem with the Twin X whether I have the sub hooked up or not.

If you are seeing the “Routing issue detected” warning, it can mean that the Left signal is bleeding over to the Right signal or vice-versa, there is some kind of cross-feeding happening, or something else in your routing isn't set up properly.
