Workaround for SoundID users that mix with multiple stereo outputs

Hi.  I'm a brand new user of SoundID.  Just calibrated my monitors for the mixing position (Focal Shape 65s).  I run Logic X through Symphony I/O which affords me 16 outputs (8 Stereo pairs) that then run to my summing bus (Inward Connections MIX690).  In my recording sessions in Logic, I almost always have my tracks distributed through multiple stereo outputs, to give my mixes more room to come up, rather than trying to cram all my tracks through one stereo out.  I was disappointed to discover that if I am going to use SoundID, I will have to put everything through one stereo out.  While this is not the end of the world by any means, it really made me consider sending my product back... But I want to see if anyone else with a similar configuration has found a way to work around this, and still keep the multiple outputs, as well as take advantage of SoundID correction.

Hi,

Thanks for your post!

It is recommended to place the plugin on your master bus/Stereo Out as the last plugin instance in your DAW. As an option, I can also recommend taking a look at our blog post regarding suggestions for setting up with a multi-output setup here: How To Use SoundID Reference In Pro Tools, Logic, and Cubase

If you have a midi controller available, you can also consider utilizing just one SoundID Reference plugin instance and create multiple presets in the plugin and quickly switch between them using the midi device. For more information on presets in the plugin, see here: Presets in SoundID Reference DAW plugin

I use an aggregate device setup and System Wide for this. Interface first then SoundID Reference last (in case you chain multiple Interfaces).

Then I choose the outputs that go straight to SoundID as the main outs for Logic X (I/O alignments - Stereo Out).

This way my main outs/monitoring are processed through Sound ID and I have all inputs/outputs for my Interface available, as SoundID is last the aggregate device chain my outputs are still numbered correctly.

Don't have to bypass plugin to bounce, system audio still goes though SoundID, everything I listen to is calibrated and my DAW works as intended, win win!
